About SafetyMode
SafetyMode is a freemium child-safety app built in partnership with Mumsnet to protect young users from harmful content on their smartphone, in real time, using AI. To our knowledge, we are currently the only company globally offering this level of safety and practicality.
We are now scaling, with support from people including Hugh Grant and Sir Tim Berners-Lee, and growing interest from parliamentarians, schools, and charities. Through our partnership with Mumsnet and Nothing Technology, we also offer SafetyMode pre-installed on our flagship device called the Other Phone.

Role Purpose
We’re looking for a Head of Community Growth & Affiliates to build a movement-led growth engine.
You will design and scale a large affiliate/ambassador programme where people and businesses are rewarded for successful referrals, while also mobilising an altruistic parent community that actively brings other parents into SafetyMode through schools, networks, and word-of-mouth.
This is a builder role for a commercially sharp target-beater, who is excited both by the commercial aspects and by the idea of building a community-first movement independently.
What You’ll Own
- Design and launch SafetyMode’s affiliate programme end-to-end (structure, incentives, recruitment, onboarding, activation, retention).
- Lead recruitment of affiliates via various channels
- Build partnerships with relevant communities (schools/PTAs, parenting groups, charities, family-focused networks).
- Lead outreach and relationship-building through regular calls, webinars, events, and 1:1 conversations.
- Create playbook and training content so affiliates can confidently explain SafetyMode and drive quality sign-ups.
- Own affiliate attribution, tracking, and reporting (sign-ups, conversion, CAC, retention, fraud prevention).
- Work closely with content/marketing colleagues to equip partners with high-performing campaign assets.
- Define referral economics and optimise for sustainable, scalable growth to other English speaking markets.
- Recruit and grow a network (first UK, then global) of parent ambassadors, creators, school champions, and community advocates.
What Success Looks Like (First 3 Months)
- Affiliate programme live with strong onboarding and clear partner journeys.
- A growing base of hundreds of active affiliates, across individuals AND organisations.
- Tens of thousands of installations of SafetyMode, and over 1000 paying users
- Consistent referred sign-ups and improving affiliate conversion rates.
- A rapidly growing community of parents, leading the conversation on child smartphone safety and addiction - driving strong retention and community driven acquisitions.
- Clear momentum: SafetyMode seen as a parent-led movement, not just a product.
Ideal Experience
- 2+ years in community growth, start-up founder, partnerships, sales, business development, affiliate marketing, or similar.
- Track record of building referral/affiliate/ambassador programmes that drove measurable growth.
- Strong commercial instincts and comfort with hitting targets and build the reporting to drive execution.
- Confident communicator who enjoys outbound activity and high call volume.
- Experience building trust-led communities and motivating advocates.
- Experience in parenting, education, safeguarding, or mission-led startups.
Candidate profile
- Highly proactive and execution-focused.
- Ideally a parent or a strong understanding of the networks and organisations that regularly work with parents and children.
- Great at building relationships quickly and authentically.
- Comfortable in ambiguity and excited to build from zero.
- Motivated by both the social cause and the opportunity to build a movement that puts parents front and centre of child safety.
