Body Count definition: what "Body Count" means and examples

February 9, 2026

A slang term representing the total number of sexual partners a person has had in their lifetime.

Originally a military term for casualties, it has been repurposed by Gen Z and Alpha to discuss sexual history. It is a highly controversial term often found in "dating podcast" culture. Parents should be aware that this term is frequently used in debates about "value" in the dating market, which can sometimes skew towards judgmental or traditionalist views. It is a very direct and somewhat clinical way that young people discuss intimacy.

Examples:

  1. "They were arguing on TikTok about whether body count matters in a relationship."
  2. "I don’t think it’s polite to ask someone their body count on a first date."
  3. "People are way too obsessed with body counts these days."
