Delulu definition: what "Delulu" means and examples

February 10, 2026

Short for delusional, a lighthearted way of describing unrealistic fantasies or overly idealistic dreams.

Usually used in a lighthearted or self-deprecating way, "delulu" refers to having unrealistic fantasies, particularly about romance or celebrities. It is the "fake it until you make it" attitude taken to an extreme. If someone believes they will marry a famous pop star, they might admit they are being delulu. It is a way for them to acknowledge their own overactive imaginations or "pipe dreams" while still having a bit of fun with the idea.

Examples:

  1. "I'm being totally delulu thinking he'll text me back today."
  2. "Stay delulu, it's the only way to get through the week."
  3. "We were so delulu thinking the tickets wouldn't sell out instantly."
