Bruh definition: what "Bruh" means and examples

February 9, 2026

A versatile interjection used to express disbelief, disappointment, or exasperation at a situation.

Bruh is the modern "Are you kidding me?" It is a derivative of "bro" but is used regardless of gender. It is usually uttered in a flat, deadpan tone when someone says something stupid or when something goes wrong. For a parent, hearing a long "Bruhhhhh" usually means you have just said something they find incredibly "cringe" or out of touch. It is the verbal equivalent of a face-palm.

Examples:

  1. "Bruh, you really just dropped my sandwich on the floor."
  2. "Did you see what he posted? Bruh, that is so embarrassing."
  3. "I told her the news and she just said 'bruh' and walked away."
